Judaism

Wed Jun 24, 2009, 3:19 AM
Let me get this straight before more strange questions are asked and more strange answers are given.

Types of Jews:

1. Extreme Orthodox Jews- the most religious Jews. They wear black suits and top hats and black dresses (custom from when our ancestors lived in Europe. They keep as many rules as they can and live together in neighborhoods, especially in Jerusalem. Be warned- don't go through those neighborhoods on Saturdays and holidays, they don't like it.

2. Orthodox Jews- they wear colorful clothing, close the roads of their neighborhoods on Saturdays and holidays, and are more open to others. They live in neighborhoods all over Israel, if my assumptions are correct. My uncle, aunt, and cousins on my mother's side are like that.

3. Religious Jews- the regular religious people who live all over Israel. They keep even less rules than the Orthodoxes, and they don't have any problem in mingling with atheists (people who don't believe in any kind of god and don't keep any kind of religion).

4. Conservative Jews- They keep only several rules. That's pretty much it.

5. Secular Jews- There are two kinds of secular Jews. Those who believe in God and don't do anything about it except fast on Yom Kippur and those who don't believe in God at all (I call them Jewish Atheists). Both of these people celebrate holidays (at least some of them), Bar-Mitzvahs, Bat-Mitzvahs, and do Brit-Milah.

6. Reform Jews- the Jews who have decided to go only by the rules that God made in the Torah and not also the ones in the Mishnah (the rule books that the smartest Rabbis wrote).

7. Jewish Ethiopians- They were separated from the rest of the Jews for several thousand years (I hope I'm not exaggerating), so they're like the Jews from back then (we've changed over time).

There are more kinds of Jews, but these are the most basic kinds. If anyone wants to ask me about anything, you're invited. I might not be religious, but since half of my family on my mother's side is religious, and since my grandmother on my father's side owns and runs a synagogue, not to mention that I go to a Conservative school, I guess I know enough.

Just so everyone knows, I stereotyped the list, so don't expect all the Jews to be like I said.
Out of curiosity, does anyone else on Devian Art except pyronixcore know Hebrew?

I am glad that you liked Desperation. Have you read What About? yet? I'm working on a few other things that I should have up soon.

Dear Eluwei,
You're welcome. Can you tell me when the next chapters come out? I don't have a watchlist, like on Quizilla.
Sincerely,
Ineharnia

Dear Ineharnia,
I can do that if you wish. Also if you go to my profile in the upper right hand corner is a deviantwatch button. If you click on that it will insure that you get notice whenever I add new stuff. It will let you know right away. Then you don't have to keep checking back. And if I forget for some unforseable reason to notify you, you'll still know what's up.
I'm working on chapter 35, hopefully I get it done quickly.
Thank you again.
Till later,
Eluwei
